Objective: To investigate the chemical composition of urinary stones in Nanning area ,and to compare the chemical composition of the stone in the upper urinary tract with that in the lower urinary stones, and compare that of urinary stones in urban residents with that in rural residents and to provide references for treatment and prevention for urinary stone diseases. Methods: The chemical stone composition of phosphate, uric acid, oxalate, carbonate, calcium, magnesium, ammonium, cystine was quanlitively analyzed for 206 urolithiasic patients who were permanent residents in Nanning city. Results: 75.2%(155/206)of stones contain oxalate component; 22.3%(46/206), phosphate component; 52.9%(109/206), uric acid component; 8.3%(17/206), carbonate component; 17.5%(36/206), ammonium; 74.8%(154/206),calcium and 24.3%(50/206),magnesium.Pure uric stones account for 11.7%(24/206)and mix component stones account for 48.5%(100/206). The percentage of calcic stones in upper urinary tract was higher than that in lower urinary tract.( 77.8%(137/176): 56.7%(17/30)(P<0.05) ). The percentage of uric acid stone in lower urinary tract was higher than that in upper urinary tract (70.0%(21/30):50.0%(88/176)(P<0.05)). The carbonate and magnesium content in the urban residents was statistically higher than that in the rural residents(P﹤0.05).No cystine stone was found in this investigation. Conclusions: 1.The calcic stones in upper urinary tract are remarkably more than those in the lower urinary tract. Uric content in lower urinary tract is higher than that in upper urinary tract. 2. The percentage of uric acid stones is...
