Objective The expression were detected to investigate the effects of p57kip2, cyclinDl and cyclinE proteins on the genesis and progression of squamous cell carcinoma.Methods Using pv-9000 immunohistochemical technique ,we detected the expression of p57kip2,cyclinDl and cyclinE proteins in 46 cases of squamous cell carcinoma and 26 cases of normal skin. Of 46 cases of squamous cell carcinoma, 23 cases were classified as grade 1,15 cases were classified as grade II ,8 cases were classified as gradeIII, according to modified Border's standard.Grade I and grade II were regarded as highly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma,and grade III and grade IV were regarded as poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma.Result P57kip2 protein positive-expression rate in squamous cell carcinoma was 19.6%,which was lower than that in normal skin (46.2%), and there was significant difference between the two groups (x =5.684,p<0.05);The positive-expression rate of p57kip2 in poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma was 0,which was lower than that in highly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma (p=0.008). The positive expression rate of cyclinDl protein in squamous cell carcinoma was 52.1%,which was higher than that in normal skin (x2=10.033,P<0.01);CyclinDl protein positive-expression was not correlated with tumor cell differentiation (x2=3.28 l,P>0.05). cyclinE protein positive-expression rate in squamous cell carcinoma was 37%, which was higher than that in normal skin (x2=5.894,P<0.05);cyclinE protein positive expression rate was correlated with tumor cell differentiation (x2=4.205, P<0.05). p57kip2 and cyclinDl were all expressed in 1 case,and were all negative expressed in 14 cases.The expression of p57kip2 was inversely correlated with that of cyclinDl( t =-0.184,P<0.05);p57kip2 and cyclinE were all expressed in 4cases, and were all negative expressed in 24 casas. The expression of p57kip2 was not correlated with that of cyclinE( t =-0.029,p>0.05).Conclusions The abnormal expression of p57kip2,cyclinDl and cyclinE may play an important role in the genesis and progression of squamous cell carcinoma.The examination of the expressions of p57kip2,cyclinDl and cyclinE is a guidance to the early diagnose of squamous cell carcinoma . The level of p57k'p2 and cyclinE may be a prognostic predicator in squamous cell carcinoma .
