The Relationship Between Serum Adiponectincon Centration And Insulun Resistance In Patients With Obesity, Diabetes Mellitus

Ojective To investigate the relationship between serum adiponectinconcentration and insulin resistance in patients with obesity, diabetesmellitus. Methods Fasting serum adiponectin concentration was measuredby RIA. Fasting plasma glucose and fasting serum true insulin weremeasured to calculate insulin Sensitivity Index ( ISI). Height, body weight,waist circumference and hip circumference were measured to calculateBMI, body fat percentage(BF%) and waist-hip ratio(WHR). Results There was no significantly difference in serum adiponectinbetween normal group and obesity group, there was no significantlydifference in serum adiponectin between type 2 DM group and obesity with2DM group too. The serum adiponectin was significantly higher in type 2DM group and obesity with 2DM group than in normal group and obesitygroup(P <0.05 ～ 0.01). There was significantly difference in serumadiponectin between female group and male group(P <0.01).Pearsonanalysis showed that body mass index (BMI), waist circumference(WC) ,waist-hip ratio﹙WHR), body fat percentage﹙BF%), fasting plasmaglucose﹙FPG﹚, insulin sensitivity index﹙ISI﹚, triglyceride﹙TG﹚,high density lipoprotein cholesterol﹙HDL-C﹚were correlated with serumadiponectin. After adjusting for WHR, partial correlation analysisshowed that BMI was not correlated with serum adiponectin. A stepwisemultiple linear regression analysis showed that HDL-C, FPG, WC,BF% enter the regression equation. Conclusion Adiponection, a hormone secreted by adipocytes, exitsexual difference, may be intimately related to obesity, type 2 diabetesmellitus and insulin resistance.
