Objective To evaluate the result in patients undergoing levator muscle resection(shortening) and over correction in a sample of patients recruited from a field trial. Methods 73 patients with 105 ptosis upper lids were followed up for half a year, all of whom had taken the levator muscle resected(shortened). The sample were separated as an over-corrected group and a control group in which no over correction had been performed. We chose a couple of items(over correction, under correction etc.) to get the samples assessed. Result The under correction rate in over-corrected group was much lower than that in control group. And the over-corrected group got a better result than the other group by the time 6 months after the operation. Most of the complications were getting better 6 months after the sugery. Conclusion A better result we will get if we over corrected the upper lid for 1~3mm in the operation of blepharoptosis. It is not easy for the patients undergoing over-correted operation to get exposure keratitis. Over correction, under correction and difficulty in closing the eye is easy to recuperate.
