| Objective: To study 24-hours blood pressure variability (BPV) in essential hypertensives (EH) and to observe the effect of the electroaccupuncture on "Quchi" on BPV in the patients. Methods: BPV were evaluated in 30 EH patients using ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, and compared with 25normal control. The 30 EH patients were treated with the electroaccupuncture on "Quchi" for 10 times by randomized single-blind study. The BPV were measured after treatment. Results: The EH patient's SBPV DBPV during 24-hours period, daytime or nighttime were significantly higher than control group (P<0.01). The SBPV after treatment was significantly lower than before treatment. There was no difference in DBPV before and after treatment. Conclusion: There was a significant increase in BPV of EH patients than control group. The electroaccupuncture on "Quchi" effective decreasing the variability of systolic blood pressure in patients with primary hypertension. |
