The evaluation of life quality of patients has already been regarded as an important part in evaluating therapeutic effects and clinical practice. In clinical research, the evaluation of life quality by patients themselves is our best choice, but sometimes this evaluation seemed very difficult for the patients were unwilling to evaluate or just cannot(recognition disorder, communication disorder). In this situation, assessing the quality of life by representatives (the patient's husband or wife, family member, nurses, doctors) is inevitable. Thus, discussion for the incredibility and efficiency of representatives' evaluation is nessesary. Using the most popular life-quality questionere(SF-36), our study investigated the patients with blood disease, the significant finder, nurses and doctors and compared the similarity, differentces of the evaluation of life quality by the four populations.AIM: To probe into the validity of the proxies by comparing the similarities and differences of patients' quality of life (QOL) with cancer provided by patient, significant minder, nurse and physician. The findings suggested that nurses have to notify the needs of the relatives of critical illpatients in order to help the patients and their families in attaining an optimal level of health. Provided clue and basement for clinical nursing.METHODS: Fifty-three patients with cancer receiving in patient chemotherapy were involved. The accepting criteria:â‘ patients were diagnosed as having cancer pathologically; â‘¡aged no younger than 16 years of age, with the educational level equal to or above primary ;(3)with the mental status score no less than 25;?without mental disorder, conscious disturbance and communication disorder unprecedently; ?living more than half a year. The excluding criteria: the patients were too weak to fill in the questionnaire. The patients as well as the significant minaers filled in SF-36 QOL questionnaire separately when the patients were hospitalized, and the physician and the nurse in charge also filled in the SF-36 QOL on the same day. The similarities and differences of QOL of patient provided by patient, significant minders, nurse and physician were compared. Investigated fifty-six patients with cancer receiving in patient chemotherapy and present a analysis of statistics.RESULTS: The QOL provided by significant minder, physician and nurse were equivalent or similar to that of the patients (P>0.05). Compared with the answers provided by proxy raters were equivalent or similar to those of the patients (mean ICC=0.555), The concordance of QOL provided by physician, significant minder, nurse and patient showed that ICC=0.054, 0.530 and 0.590. The QOL is related with patients' income and education background. (P<0.05).CONCLUSION: The QOL of patients provided by significant minder, physician as well as the nurse was similar to that of patients. Among them, the QOL of patients provided by nurse was the most similar to that of patients. Through the psychological interventions, the QOL of patients...
