Objective: Abdominal acupuncture is a new micro-acupuncture of cervical spondylosis in clinical .By the present research, we will have a particularly effective, painless, safe acupuncture therapy and standard technical text to cure nerve root cervical spondylosis. Methods: According to diagnostic standard, bringing-into standard and dropping standard in force. 80 Patients with nerve root cervical spondylosis were randomly divided into abdominal acupuncture group (trial group) and normal traction group (control group) on the basis of their different treatment schemes. Meanwhile, the spirit of blind method and the measure of quality control were carried out rigidly. Treatments including treatment prescription, selection of the instruments, depth of insertion, methods of acupuncture, time of needle retaining, course of treatment etc, were defined objectively and scientific evaluatingstandards were formulated to judge short and long term effect ofabdominal acupuncture .Results: The cure and effective rate was 87.5% in the treatmentgroup and 67.5% in the control group. Tested by x2(x2=4.59, P<0.05),the former is apparently superior to the latter group with significant difference. The two groups of patients comparison between the former and latter grade of the main symptoms and sign treatment is that: In abdominal acupuncture group, the grade was 4.90±2.52 before treatment and 1.83±1.46 after treatment (t=6.67,P<0.01);In normal traction group, the grade was 4.85± 2.40 before treatment and 2.49±1.50 after treatment (t=5.27, P< 0.01);The grade was 1.83±1.46 after treatment in abdominal acupuncture group and 2.49±1.50 after treatment in normal traction group(t= 1.994, P<0.05).The stabilization rate and recurrence rate were 83.9% and 16.1% in treatment group and 60% and 40% in control group with significant difference between the two groups ( x 2=4.021, P<0.05). Considering the safety, abdominal acupuncture therapy is reliable and no dizziness and there will be only little pain and bleeding when pricking. Conclusions: The present research suggested that abdominal acupuncture is a new technique to cure cervical spondylosis of nerve root, which is effective, painless, convenient and practical. It has popular and applied worth in the field of spondylosis of nerve root.
