Objective: To study the family dynamics of schizophrenic patients' family and the influenced factors. The purpose was to provide theory bases for family intervention. Methods: 92 patients with schizophrenia and 60 normal controls were measured with the Family Dynamics Questionnaire, Family Adaptability and Cohesion Scale and Family Environment Scale. Result: 1. Compared to control families, families with schizophrenic patients have dull, dreary atmosphere, lower individuation and using less "Both…and…"system's logic, but in the dimension of disease concept, there was no significant difference, 2. Families with schizophrenic patients have lower cohesion, poor adaptability and a higher proportion of "extreme" family type, Cohesion and adoptability was related to many family variable, and a lot have predictive effects on them, 3. In the families with schizophrenic patients, there was higher conflict and control, lower expressiveness and cohesion. Conclusions: The families with schizophrenic patients have comparative family dysfunction measuring by different dimension, and carrying out family intervention should be based on the characteristic of the family dynamics.
