Objective: To evaluate the disinfectant effect of a plant extraction (XY disinfectant). Methods:The disinfectant tests were done according to THE NATIONAL GUIDELINES OF DISINFECTANT TECHNOLOGY, Ministry of Health R.P. China. Result :The killing rates (KRs) of the concentration 5%,3%,2% to the four bacteria Staphylococcus ATCC6538 , Escherichia coli 8099 , Bacillus subtilis var.niger ATCC9372 , Candida albicans ATCC10231 were over 99.90%, theKRs of the concentration 1% were 70%,60%,100%,99.90% respectively; the KRs of the concentration 0.5% were 50%,100%,40%,99.0% respectively. The concentration 5%,3%,2% can inactivated HBsAg completely. The 1%, 0.5% concentration can inactivated the HBsAg partly, their OD values go down from 2.21 to 0.21~0.41. HBV-DNA can be inactivated completely by any of five XY extaction concentrations. The toxicity test indicated that the acute oral LD50 of XY disinfectant in mice was 3020mg/kg, being a level of low toxicity. The XY disinfectant was not irritatative to skin, conjunctia and iris. Material destruction test indicated that the disinfectant was not corrosive to stainless steel, but slightly to aluminum and carbon steel. The disinfectant was stable during 2 months storage period. Conclusion: XY disinfectant is safe, effective and rapid...
