Backgrand The clinical application of the homologuous bones started at 1908 by leser. Because of the effective storage of the homologuous bones, the clinical application of it was greatly limited for a long time. At 1941 Inclan suggested the concept of bone storeroom, after that lots of developed countries set up all kinds of bone storeroom. Till then the set up of the bone storeroom accelerated the more convenient and safe clinical application of the homologuous bones. The biological, immunological character and the ability to induce bone forming have been proved by other scientist, and the range of its clinical application has been augmented. The decalcifying bone, defatted bone, deproteined bone and synthetic bone are the most ordinarily used which are always used to fill the bone defect and reconstruct the joint. The internal fixation system especially for hand surgery made of homologuous bones is still hard to see. Objective To study an effective internal fixation system for the hand surgery, which is made of homologuous bones.Materials and methods To obtain anatomical data, all the metacarpal bones and bones of fingers from 10 males and 10 females were measured about the length, diameter of the middle segment, bore of the middle segment, etc. In the same time, 1575 cases of patients with metacarpal bone and phalange bone fractures were analyzed for clinical study.Several kind of internal fixation systems were then designed based on the data above and the bones used in this system were provided by the selected and used tissue storeroom in Taiyuan of Shangxi province, all from legal donators. After the HIV, HBV, HCV and syphilis tests were proved to be negative, the bones weretreated with profound hypothermua, sterile bone marrow cleaning and secondary sterilization by 20kgy M CO Y radiation in turn and no microorganism was observed after 72-hour culture. When applied to clinic, photos and X-ray photography about the internal fixation were taken before, during, after and 1 month after the surgery for the future analysis. Results This system was with reliable fixation, low level immunological rejection, rapid callus growth, no influence on joint function, no necessity for secondary extirpation operation and bone repairing function. Conclusion This internal fixation system was proved to be practical and effective and it's key advantages lied in that it didn't affect the joint function and it needn't to be taken out.
