An applied research and programming process about the software "Managing & Trauma Grading System of Chinese Injury Database" is presented. Firstly, the basic knowledge and the significance of Trauma Medicine and Related Database (RDB) is introduced. Then the Injury Database is synthetically analyzed. The input and output of the software system are defined and the software is divided into several different modules according to different functions. Other chapters are the explanations about these functional modules. The main functions of our system are described in the following paragraph. Something about the signification and calculating methods of trauma scores are included in an individual chapter.Main functions of the software system are (1)Add New Records & Input Records in Batches: Input records one by one or by batches from inferior hospitals' injury database. It can also output records with particular format. The software can calculate automatically all the injury scores including GCS, RTS, ISS, GOS, Ps_TRISS and Ps_ASCOT by inputing only the basic information about patients into the computer. And all these injury scores will be updated together with the basic information to the injury database. (2)Delete or Edit Records: The invalid data can be modified or deleted and the results can be updated into database automatically. (3)Browse, Query and Print out Data: Browse records by column or by gridding. It can also be used to query records according to some particular conditions user defined. The query results can be output or printed out if the users want to. (4)Calculate Injury Scores: It can calculate injury data automatically using the basic information of patients and so reduce the burden of the staff in the hospital. Moreover, it can avoid subjective factors which would effect the accuracy of final results. This module can be used solely. (5)Statistically Analyze Data: Except provide basic analysis, it can also calculate the maximum, minimum, average and root-mean-square value of age, pre-hospital, BP, GCS, RTS, ISS, GOS, Ps_TRISS, Ps_ASCOT. The results can be output or printed out by the forms of graph or report.
