Objectives This study was designed to evaluate the expression of P-gp, LRP, bcl-2 in the patients with osteosarcoma and the relationships between their expression and the clinicopathological factors.Material and Methods the expression of P-gp, LRP and bcl-2 was investigated by SABC immunohistochemical staining in 42 patients with osteosarcom and 10 normal bone tissues, x 2 test and Spearman's rank correlation was used to analyse the results. Results the positive expression rate of P-gp, LRP and bcl-2 was 35.71%(15/42) , 42.86%( 1 8/42) > 5 2 .38%(22/42) respectively. There was a high significant difference between P-gp and LRP expression(r=0.412, P < 0.01 ) and no significant difference between P-gp and bcl-2, LRP and bcl-2 expression(r = 0.10 and 0.152, P>0.05). The rate of positive expression of P-gp LRP and bcl-2 has no relation with age, sex, and Price's grading of osteosarcoma, (P>0.05). P-gp and LRP had sometimes co-overexpression in correlation osteosarcoma. Conclusion P-gP, LRP and bcl-2 may become indices judging the response to chemotherapy of human osteosarcoma.Combined detection of P-gp and LRP may play an important role in judging the prognosis of human osteosarcoma.
