The Research On Plant Landscape Of Flower Exhibition In China

Flower exhibition is one of the most popular ways in flower arranging, which is not only the best way to show flowers' appearance characteristics, cultivation levels, shape skills and landscape architecture , but also people's favourite form of flower appreciation. As years go-by, different types of flower exhibition came into China, phenomena of simplification and unclear characteristic in plant landscape has been emerged. Therefore, systematic research on the flower exhibition especially on the key point of it - the plant landscape, which is quite significant for the development of flower exhibition in the future.The paper, based on analyzing the references and researching the sites, takes plant landscape characteristics of flower exhibition as research object. It firstly take a research on the development of ancient flower exhibition, then selects the main types of contemporary flower exhibition, including the general flower exhibition, topic flower exhibition (ornamental exhibition, trade exhibition, scientific exhibition and festival-oriented exhibition) and major exhibition , discussing how to show plant landscape in different types of flower exhibition through theory research and case analysis, and finally put the research achievement into practice.The conclusion of the paper is composed of three aspects:1, no definition of 'flower exhibition' in ancient China, however, activities which arrange flowers for people to appreciate have appeared already for a long time. The plant materials usually exhibited are basically Chinese traditional flowers people love, such as peony, chrysanthemum, lotus, plum, rose and camellia etc, especially peony show. Trace from the historical view, the emperor in Wei and Jin dynasty gather a large number of valuable species to appreciate whose form is very single. Appeared in the Tang Dynasty people began to choose special-species plants to form a garden, and when it comes to the Song dynasty the sites, layout methods, plant varieties, including materials and content are considered, people gradually create subjects in different regions in accordance with the characteristics of plants materials, which form the true sense of flower exhibition. The development of flower exhibition grown maturely in the Ming and Qing Dynasties and made significant progress in creating plant landscape with pavilion, terrace and other architectural forms, as well as the pond, rocks to highlight the theme of landscape.2,There're varieties of different types of flower exhibition in China ,which on the whole owns the features of rich show contents, wide varieties of plants, forms of configuration and geographical characteristics. Through the succession of traditional gardening approaches and combination of cultural landscape and plants together, rationally organize the relations between plants with architecture, rocks and water, masterly use gardening skills, such as to get the scene borrowed, blocked and so on. In addition to the modern technology like sound and light, therefore creating a garden space where region, culture and plants, environment get into integration. However, there are certain issues in the development process of flower exhibition. Based on the frequently used potted plants landscape in contrast to the little application of fragrant-flower trees, colorful species, as well as the Chinese traditional blossoms, resulting in a lack of landscape with Chinese characteristics.3,Through the analysis from the overall planning, area layout and plant landscape approaches and effects of contemporary flower exhibition, it's suggested to create unique landscapes for different types of flower exhibition ,which is to increase the application of new varieties ,show the modern, regional and national landscape also make use of new ideas and technology in accordance with the development trend of future gardening.Try to create different combinations of plants in flower exhibition, through color contrast and level changes, which will bring visitors different experiences. Meanwhile, it's tried to find the functionality in plant itself and gather plant materials with some common features together to form flower border, combining gardening elements to jointly create a multi-purpose plant space, which will make the flower exhibition more interesting.Finally, the theory of the study is put into practice of landscape design with projects "2008 world flower exhibition - petals Magnolia area of Europe district in Beijing Botanical Garden " and "The 7th China Flower Expo 2009 -Beijing garden". According to the theme and location of different flower exhibition, the principles of landscape design and plant materials arranging are determined which turn out to be quite well.
