Beijing Flower Port Investment and Development Center held the tulip flower show every year since 2010. It has become the largest tulip exhibition park in Beijing in recent years. The existing main problem is that a large number of tulip bulbs used in flower show are imported from the Netherlands, while the bulb degradation is serious, so the cost of flower show is very high. In addition, the flower show landscape presents similar every year, the landscape quality also need to be improved. How to save the cost of flower show by achieving the tulip bulb reutilization under the premise of improving the flower show landscape is the problem needed to be solved urgently.Through investigating the tulip flower show landscape in Beijing, visitors’ aesthetic tendency about tulip flower show landscape was found. On the basis of that, research on the influence of different planting design on the growth, flowering and bulb reproduction of tulip was carried out to find suitable planting mode. Besides, the difference between daughter bulbs and mother bulbs were observed, research on the influence of different cultivation methods on the flowering of daughter bulbs was carried out to discuss the feasibility of applying daughter bulbs in the flower show. The results of the landscape evaluation and cultivation experiment provide some suggestions on the plant design of tulip flower show in Beijing Flower Port, and the partial transformation in main exhibition area was carried out according to the results. The detailed results are as follows.The evaluation results show that the flower show landscape which is tulip-centered, multi-layered, color used harmoniously or near the water received high evaluation by applying the method of BIB-LCJ. Given on the difference among different types of group-, diversified landscape should be built in flower show to meet the aesthetic needs of different people.Cultivation under different types of artificial community has some effect on the growth, flowering and bulb reproduction of tulips. Results showed that plant is robust, the flowering quality is high, and the rate of the tulip bulb reutilization was improved when cultivated under artificial communities of ’deciduous forest+groundcover’ and ’deciduous forest’.Intercropping experiment showed that white clover is suggested to be intercropped with tulips. It is conducive to the tulip bulb reproduction without affecting tulips’ ornamental value. The influence of intercropping with wheat on growth, flowering and bulb reproduction of most tulip cultivars is not significant.Comparing with mother bulbs, most cultivars of daughter bulbs showed degradation on the growth and flowering to some extent, while the performance of flowering of some cultivars’ daughter bulbs can meet the requirement of exhibition, such as ’Golden Parade’. Substrate cultivation (peat:sand=3:1 and peat:sand:soil=2:1:1) can improve the quality of growth and flowering of daughter bulbs. The effect is better when using the same substrate cultivation in the following year. GA3 plays a positive role on the flowering, but the optimal concentration of each cultivar is different.400 mg/L GA3 is best for ’Apricot impression’, while 600 mg/L GA3 is best for ’Pink impression’ and ’Golden review’.Considering results of landscape evaluation and cultivation experiments comprehensively, more deciduous artificial communities should be constructed, and white clover is suggested to intercrop with tulips in exhibition area of tulip flower show in Beijing Flower Port to provide suitable microclimate for tulips to increase bulb reutilization rate. Besides, Substrate cultivation should be applied in some areas to improve the performance of the flowering of daughter bulbs. Combining these two aspects, the flower show cost can be saved. At the same time, constructing different communities can create diversified landscape, thus improve the landscape quality.Aiming at the main problems that the flower show landscape presents similar every year and the cost of flower show is very high because of serious bulb degradation, the research studied the public’s aesthetic tendency of tulip flower show applying BIB-LCJ, and defined the influence of different types of artificial communities on the growth, flowering and bulb reproduction of tulips. The results were applied to guide the plant design of tulip flower show in Beijing Flower Port, and the partial transformation in main exhibition area was carried out. The research has important guiding significance on holding the tulip flower show in different regions.
