Canine urolithiasis included in nutrition metabolic diseases taked up 18% urologic system disorders and increased gradually in latest years. The etiology of urolithiasis is rather complex, which is usually connected with many factors, such as: their diet, age, gender, breed, infection of the urologic tract, other disorders of the animal economy and the geography they survived etc. The purpose of this study is to provide a basis for prevention and treating of canine urolithiasis on the basis of the research of canine urolithiasis morbidity in Nanjing, the study on system clinical pathological symptom on the cases of canine urolithiasis in a canine farm in Nanjing area, and the conclusion of treatment to 58 canine urolithiasis cases caused by struvite. The investigation of 8650 field suspected cases of canine urolithiasis was obtained form 3 representative animal hospitals in Nanjing area, in which 96 canine urinary stones cases was diagnosed by the X-ray, B ultrasonic sound and laboratory examination. The incidence of urolithiasis of canine was 0.89%~1.37% in the 3 animal hospitals in Nanjing area. In the field cases of urolithiasis male canine was 55.21%(53/96), female 44.79%(43/96), the incidence of urolithiasis of canine was reached 43.75% in June, July and August, which was the toppest in the whole year. The incidence of urolithiasis of Pekingese and Shih Tzu canine was 48.96%(47/96). The most susceptible age was 2-4 years with 40.63%(39/96)incidence, the second was 5-8 years with 5%(24/96) incidence, less than 2 years old was 21.88%(21/96), the lowest years was more than 9 with the incidence was 12.5%(12/96). 80 percent of infected dogs were feed mainly with duck and chick livers or other animals' viscus or muscle, which contained a large number of protein and ions with singular nutrition. In 2006, one group-occurring case of canine urolithiasis with long duration time of disorders was broken out in a canine farm in Nanjing about 3 years.. Its morbidity was 34.44%(62/180), and its mortality was 45.16%(28/62). In this case, crystalloid was found with the help of B ultrasonic sound equipment, which showed strong punctate and group reecho in urinary bladder and kidney. Crystalloid aggradation caused kidney necrosis. The examination on uric and biochemical indexes also indicated the dysfunction of kidney. The result of scanning electron microscope examination showed that most of the crystalloid bodies were spheroid, which indicated that the calculus in this case was uric acid urolithiasis. These results concluded from research provided clinical basis for controlling and preventing urolithiasis for this canine farm.In diagnosing clinical canine urolithiasis cases, calculi in 58 cases were confined to struvite (magnesium ammonium phosphate) with the help of X-ray, B ultrasonic, laboratory examination and chemical qualitative analysis of urinary stones.Treating measures were mainly on surgery and stones excluding by medicine, which change the entironment to prevent the calculi forming, then the crystalloid bodies can be dissolved after taking medicine. Drinking more water or taking diuretic was helpful to discharge the stones with urine. The calculus was often removed by operation when the disorders were urinary bladder or urethra urolithiasis, but operations have the advantage of high clinical recurrence rate.
