Research On The Problems & Countermeasures Of Cattle Breed Improvement In Hubei Province

To begin from studying the development tendency of the world cattle raising, breeding and production performance of cattle and buffalo in Hubei province were investigated ,cattle breeding improvement in Hubei province was also discussed in the paper. In the study , some problems were found in cattle breeding improvement of Hubei province ,some advice was given to solve these problems. The problems1) Lack of attentionBecause of the low profit and long period, the government seldom paid attention on cattle breeding improvement .It comes across lots of problems such as troubles in fees collecting after service, difficulties in laws and rules carrying out and lack of fund.2) The systemic mechanism has not been founded in cattle breeding improvement.Under the market economic situation , the systemic mechanism has not been founded in cattle breeding improvement, many problems were founded in this investigation such as phenomena of no rules,no fund and no guarantee, old age of technicians, dropping of technical level ,and without enough regard to market change.3)The cattle raising in Hubei province developed slowly.The matter influenced cattle breeding improvement was that cattle raising in Hubei developed more slowly than most of other province in China. In Hubei province, the population of cattle in hand dropped year by year. The foundation of cattle breeding was not very firm. It also impacted cattle raising in Hubei. The suggestions improve cattle breeding improvement1) More attention should be given to it, and consumer market should be developed. First of all, based on demand of consumer, the new mechanism of market should be founded. First the goal and responsibility should be given. Secondly, there should be criterion about charge of the service. Thirdly, the relation among the department should be clear. Fourthly, some new ways such as "company +farmer", "government +animal raising zone +farmer" can be tried. Fifthly, the plan of development should be made. As a result, the investment should be increased.2) Technique and service should be improved. Service agency, which should be founded in every county, city and province, should support the popularization of technology. The breed structure should be changed with variety of market. The famous breed should be advertised to the consumer.3) New mechanism of cattle breeding improvement should be founded, and the goal should be clear. The two mechanism, which are "province breeding center and county breeding improvement station" and "county breeding improvement station and town veterinary station", should be founded. Based on variety of cattle breeding, there should be different cattle raising zones in Hubei province such as Wuhan and Yichang diary cattle breeding improvement zone, Jianghan Plain and northwestern of Hubei large bovine breeding improvement zone, eastern of Hubei and Dabie mountainous area small bovine breeding improvement zone. We should take advantage of different zones and use new technology such as MOET to improve cattle raising industry of our province.In conclusion, establishment of new cattle breeding improvement mechanism, which is reasonable, clear, integrated and scientific, is the goal of cattle raising industry.
