Three types of curing barns were used for experiment materials during tobacco baking season in 2009, in the modern tobacco agricultural test site in Zhengning county, Qingyang city, Gansu province, which were as follows:transforming traditional flue-curing barn into bulk curing barn, the 2.7 * 8 meters newly-built bulk curing barn and small normal standardized curing barn. The upper, middle and lower parts of cultivar qinyan 96 were chose to research under different curing conditions. We studied baking process, utilization of barked tobacco leaf, consumption of energy and coal, external appearance and physical properties, chemical composition, exterior quality, sense quality and purchasing rating. The main research results are as follows:1.For lower leaves, the lowest cost of coal and energy was only 0.78 yuan in normal curing barn; For middle leaves, it was 1.09 yuan in rebuilding bulk curing barn and newly-built bulk curing barn; For upper leaves, it was 1.15 yuan in rebuilding bulk curing barn.2.Compared with normal curing barn, when curing different parts of tobacco, bulk curing barn can save 4-5 hours, and rebuilding bulk curing barn can save 8-11 hours. During the entire baking process, the morphology change of leaves was most intensely in bulk curing barn, followed by rebuilding bulk curing barn, and normal curing barn was slow.3.The chemical composition of cured leaves were coordinated when the lower leaves were baked in normal curing barn, the middles were baked in bulk and rebuilding bulk curing barn and the uppers were baked in bulk one.4.Baked in different curing barns, the thickness, stem ratio, equilibrium moisture content, tension values ranged from 0.071-0.128mm,25.3% -38.2%,14.30% -15.17%, 1.68N-2.16 N, new bulk curing barn was 0.078-0.134 mm,21.92% -34.41%,11.5%-14.34%,1.49N-1.69N; general change barn was 0.076-0.131 mm,22.16% -30.37%, 13.21% -14.44%,1.49N-2.03N; Compared with normal curing barn, the stem ratio, equilibrium moisture rate and the tension values of different parts of tobacco leaves in bulk and rebuilding bulk curing barn got lower, leaves became thicker, the leaf structure was not loose enough, toughness was poor. 5.When baking middle and lower leaves, the structure of cured leaves were loose and moderate, which has oil and concentrated color, the quality of appearance was the best by common barn, then bulk baking was the second, and the common barn was the worst.6.The composite score of the sensory quality of cured lower leaves by rebuilding bulk curing barn, newly-built and normal curing barn was 35.9,32,38.5 respectively, the middle leaves was 37.6,32.9,44.7 respectively, the upper leaves was 38.7,39.7,34.9 respectively, the highest scores in middle and lower leaves were of normal barn, followed by bulk baking, and then rebuilding bulk baking. The highest scores of upper leaves was in bulk baking, and the worst in normal baking.7. The quality level of cured leaf was the highest by bulk baking, then followed by rebuilding bulk baking, and the normal baking was the worst8. According to all indicators, the comprehensive evaluation of lower leaves baking by common barn was the highest, while middle and upper leaves baking by bulk curing barn was the best. Combining features of tobacco area in Gansu Province, it is suggested that the lower leaves will be baked by small normal standardized barn, and the middle by universal change bulk or new bulk curing barn, the upper leaves by new bulk curing barn.
