Purpose:To compare the results and complications of hemiarthroplasty andproximal femoral nail anti-rotation(PFNA) in the treatment of femoralintertrochanteric fractures for senile patients. Methods: All of54senile patients with femoral intertrochanteric fractureswere divided into two groups.28patients were treated with proximal femoral nailanti-rotation internal fixation(group A),26patients were treated withhemiarthroplasty(group B).Resu1ts:54patients were followed up for7to13months,an average of10.6months. The operative time of group A is shorter than that in group B, the averageamount of blooding is less than that in group B (P<0.05); hospital stays andthe time of completely loaded in group B are shorter than them in group A(P<0.05).There were no significant difference in comparison of complicationsand the Harris hip score at three months after surgery(P>0.05).Conclusion:Hemiarthroplasty and PFNA in treating intertrochantericfractures have their own advantages and disadvantages, we should choose theappropriate method based on the individual characteristics of the patients.
