Objective:To investigate and analyze the prevalence and risk factors of hypertension among the elderly population in Qingdao we can provide a reference for the future development of viable interventions.Methods:From2009to2011,1492residents aged over60years old from six districts of Qingdao were randomly selected and their general conditions, life styles, behaviors, family histories were investigated, and physical check-ups and corresponding lab test were conducted. The data was analysed with SPSS17.0.Results:The survey totaling1460people, including647males (44.3%),813females, accounting for55.7%. Age group60to64,65to69and70years of age accounted for41.1%,32.8%and26.1%, with an average age (66.254.495) years of age. Systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) of the mean (standard deviation) was145.32(23.21) mmHg and83.87(11.74) mmHg. The prevalence of hypertension was64.9%(males62.8%), the prevalence of hypertension increased with age and increased significantly (P<0.05). Among them, isolated systolic hypertension (ISH) prevalence rate was22.40%, compared to34.53%constituted. ISH prevalence with age and increased, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01).Overweight hypertensive population was39.94percent,23.31percent obesity rate, abnormal total cholesterol (TC) was43.60%, triglyceride (TG) was39.79%abnormal, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) anomaly rate of1.27%and55.77%of the total rate of dyslipidemia. Obesity rates, TC abnormal rate, TG abnormal rate and total rate of dyslipidemia were significant differences between men and women. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that, after controlling for confounding factors, age, BMI (body mass index), diabetes, family history of hypertension, alcohol consumption, TG increased the prevalence of hypertension (P<0.01), whereas HDL-C and the prevalence of hypertension was negatively correlated (P<0.01).Conclusion:The prevalence of hypertension in elders of Qingdao was higher than national level. Healthy lifestyle communities hypertension guidance and intervention should be taken to reduce the prevalence of hypertension.
