In order to observe the effects of different process on the anti-oxidative ability of Sijunzi decoction in spleen-deficient mouse, 105 Kunming mice were used, which were divided into 7 groups at random, the control group, spleen-deficient model group, common Sijunzi decoction group, 1/2 dose and 1/4 dose superfined Sijunzi suspension group, 1/2 and 1/4 superfined Sijunzi decoction group. Each group contained 15 mice. All the mice except in the control group were injected resperine subcutaneously to induce spleen-deficient model, and then the mice in the last five groups were respectively treated with common sijunzi decoction, 1/2 and 1/4 dose superfined suspension, and 1/2 and 1/4 superfined decoction. The results are as follows:1. Compared with the control group, the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX) and total anti-oxidative ability of the spleen-deficient model group were significantly lower, and the activity of catalase (CAT) as well as the level of NO and MDA were significantly higher, indicating that spleen-deficient mice have decreased anti-oxidative ability.2. Compared with the spleen-deficient model group, the total anti-oxidative ability, the activity of SOD and GSH-PX of the common Sijunzi decoction group were significantly higher, and the activity of CAT as well as the level of NO and MDA were significant lower, suggesting that common Sijunzi decoction has remarkable anti-oxidative effect.3. Compared with the common Sijunzi group, the SOD activity of the 1/2 dose superfined suspension group was significantly higher, the NO level and the total anti-oxidative ability were significantly lower; the GSG-PX, CAT activity and the MDA level were the same (no significant differences were found). The results show that 1/2 dose of superfined Sijunzi suspension has better effects on promoting the SOD activity and reducing the NO level; equivalent effects on promoting GSH-PX activity and reducing CAT activity as well as MDA; and worse effects on promoting the total anti-oxidative ability than common Sijunzi decoction.4. Except the level of NO and the activity of CAT, all the measured indexes of the 1/4 superfined Sijunzi suspension group were significantly lower than both the 1/2 superfined Sijunzi suspension group and common Sijunzi decoction group, suggesting that 1/4 dose of superfined suspension of Sijunzi can not be used to replace common Sijunzi decoction.5. Except the activity of SOD and CAT, no significant differences were found between the two 1/2 dose of superfined Sijunzi groups; and there were no remarkable difference between the two 1/4 dose of superfined Sijunzi groups except the activity of SOD and GSH-PX.
