In greenhouse, loosening soil is a basic work. In order to improve production efficiency, it needs miniaturized and multifunctional machines to substitute manpower. At the present time, the space of greenhouse is limited in our country. So it is difficult to use large machines in these greenhouses. In last few years, there are many kinds of small machines used for greenhouse, however, some problems still exist, such as big size, heavy weight, lower work efficiency, bad adaptability and so on. So the electrodynamic claw loosener is designed and made. The machine's dimension is small, it is easy to operate, which is very suitable to greenhouse.According to pick movement when man uses it cutting soil, many kinds of mechanisms were designed to simulate the locus. Eventually propelling wheel block was confirmed by theoretical analysis and model experiment. The mechanism was base on the crank block. Its structure is simple, the relation among parts is easily made sure. After establishing coordinate, parameter equations of special points of working parts can be expressed. To get velocity of each special point, the equations were differentiated individually. From the equations, the relation between working depth and dimension of working parts was deduced. At the present time, there is no reporting about this aspect in our country.The paper discussed that power consummation was influenced by many factors such as forward velocity of the machine, rotational speed of propelling wheel, working depth and so on. Satisfying agricultural requirements and reducing power consummation, those parameters can be made sure, which was substituted empirical equation to calculate power needed. According the power, the type of electric motor was confirmed.The machine structure was properly redistributed, primarily composed of electric motor, varying speed institution, working parts, driving system, operation system etc. Electric motor supplies power, is connected with speed reducer though shaft coupling. Varying speed institution used speed reducer and rag wheel. So the power was divided into two parts, one part was transferred to working parts loosing soil, the other was delivered to driving system making the machine go forward. Operation system includes steering hardware and clutch operating device. The former controls the direction. The latter meshed or declutched, the power of working parts and driving system is transferred or broken.The model machine was made according to designed drawing anddocuments. To test working performance in different soil moisture content, the machine was put on trial in soil box of laboratory. The result indicates that working parts can imitate human and primly cut soil, what's more, there is no plough pan. Ability of Turning and hacking soil is weaken, which reduce power consummation. Driven by electric motor, the pollution is avoided in greenhouse, the structure is simplified, the weight is lighten and maneuverability is improved.
