Industrial design has become an essential part to enhance values in modern industrial and manufacturing industries. Industrial design requires not only artistic inspirations and experiences, also logical thinking to lead the product design process and achieve the integration of design knowledge. Developed fast for the past few years, applications of industrial design have still relied on personal experiences so much that the researches on methodology need to make the creative process more systematic and intelligent to support massive industrial design applications.Compared with other subjective creative methodologies, TRIZ has condensed the innovative essences based on the analysis of 2.5 Million patents all over the world. Large multinationals such as GE, Motorola and Samsung utilizing TRIZ in their product design processes have achieved great commercial success. Various CAI innovative software have been launched as an intelligent extension of TRIZ in domestic and international markets. However, the theoretic lack of emotional thinking and application can not realize a smooth operation with industrial design practices. There is still large room for TRIZ to develop in industrial design applications well.In this paper, three different stages including "Demand analysis - Creativity realization - Knowledge accumulation" in the industrial design process were analyzed. A new industrial design system was created by optimizing and improving five tools and methods of TRIZ:1. Using the Ideality and Resources thinking of TRIZ to create an Innovative Product Idealizing Process and help designers to accurately establish external design environment in the preliminary process and focus on the optimization of design goals.2. Using Sub-Field theory of TRIZ and theory of Scenario Analysis to define key design elements and utilize 12 optimized Standard Inventive Solutions for industrial design to guide designers to conduct the micro demand analysis by establishing function models.3. Improving and integrating 44 Innovative Principles for industrial design based on 40 Inventive Principles of TRIZ by combining innovative characteristics analysis with innovative design matrix to address design conflicts;4. Using the Scientific Effects thinking to construct an industrial design knowledge base as a real-time references system and provide the theoretical support for designers according to industrial design knowledge features.Finally, the paper demonstrated how to apply this new industrial design system and proved that this system can bring higher design efficiency and effectiveness to designers than currently design process by carrying out a stroller parallel development project with Chinno Industrial Design Company.
