The Ideas And Practices Of Heritage Conservation In Berlin Modernism Housing Estates

Germany is a western developed country with rich cultural heritages, keeps ahead in the field of conservation and protection of the heritage all over the world. In the 32nd session of the World Heritage Committee's conference held in July 2008 in Quebec of Canada, Berlin Modernism Housing Estates in Germany was declared as one of the 19 new World Heritage Sites.The "20th century heritage" has become an important research frontier theme in world heritage protection for UNESCO today.The preservation of the 20th century heritage whose significance and value are easy to be ignored is underdeveloped in China.They are in the condition of being abandoned and removed while the city develop fast.The 20th century heritage are facing a crisis much more than the elder heritage.The author has surveyed in multiple-site research, interviews and a large number of primary data collection and communicated with local authority and house owners several times,summed up the German heritage of the 20th century, the status quo, protect history and the policy context.To view Berlin Modernism Housing Estates as the main examples, combined with some other 20th century German heritage conservation practices and the latest research results, in-depth analysis of the characteristics of heritage sites, inscription reasons, the value of assessment criteria and methods, protection management and monitoring mechanisms, the author will reveal and summarize German cultural heritage concepts and best practices where was the main origin of modern movement in the 20th century. Furthermore author reached the following conclusion:It will cause the concept of the heritage more integrated by preserving the 20th century heritage which is the important part of the historical memory.These "yang heritages" will supply a kind of historical and cultural coordinate for cities and districts,in order to avoid missing in the global great development.For their understanding and assessment of the value,they should be closely combined with their own characteristics, using a scientific and comprehensive monitoring tool to manage the implementation of the sustainable maintenance and development-oriented concepts,in order to take precautions against the menace of authenticity from changes by functional requirements and to maximize the scientific maintenance procedures to maintain their authenticity and integrity.Further more,the thesis apply the view from the Berlin's experience and survey the value and significance of pertecting parts of the "yang heritage" in Da Ming palace heritage park,then put forward the pertecting ways and concept design.
