With the social progress and economic development, there have become many new forms in the retail industry. One of them is shopping mall. Although it has been nearly a century in foreign countries, but there is only no more than 30 years history in China.Its unique form and format has attracted a lot of the consumers in general. The outside landscape environment of shopping malls has meant more and more to sellers, consumers and even the cities. Then how to make the outside landscape environment become an important means of marketing businesses, become a consumer's ideal leisure place, but also become an important urban landscape node becomes an important issue for architects and landscape designers to consider.This article focuses on the role of purpose of the outside landscape environment, to find its characteristics and the way to design. In this paper, the first chapter makes a basic outline about the research background and research significance. The second chapter is devoted to the display of the history of outside landscape environment as well as the history of the development of shopping malls, from a historical perspective and sum up the characteristics of the laws of its development. The third chapter makes a definition of the outside landscape environment of the shopping malls and sums up its development. The fourth chapter gives a reference to the investigation of several cases of outside landscape environment in Beijing, identifies and analyses the existing problems. The fifth chapter of the survey combined with the previous analysis, summaries the design principles and design methods for the shopping mall outside landscape environment.Based on the summary of the past theoretical research and analysis of the actual survey of shopping mall outside landscape environment, this paper makes the impact from the social background of experience for the users on consumption activities as the breakthrough point, makes a horizontal and vertical comparison between different types of outside landscape environment of shopping malls, will develop our country shopping mall outside landscape environment design.
