This thesis is about results obtained by the author’s research and analysis on interactive experience within a shopping mall environment, as well as design exploration and practice with case study of Deji Plaza Shopping Mall Phase Ⅱ, Nanjing.The article consists of five chapters:Chapter one explains reasons to start the research on the subject, research purposes and its practical meanings.Chapter two introduces basic interaction design principles through looking back on the history of development of interior design for shopping malls. This chapter analyses customer mental behaviors, and based on this, brings up the idea of the mutual impact of interactive experience and the interior environment of shopping malls. The author gives some case studies and explains why the study of interactive experience for interior environment of shopping malls is important. Based on all the analysis, the author gives her thoughts on design strategies, and tries to apply them to the case of Deji Plaza Shopping Mall Phase Ⅱ, Nanjing.Chapter three analyses the four aspects of interior design for shopping malls, which are interfaces, colors, views and medias. Then, the author concludes the design principles for interactive experience within a shopping mall, and she attempts to apply them to the case of Deji Plaza Shopping Mall Phase Ⅱ, Nanjing.Chapter four begins with the results of the preliminary investigation. Then the author abstracts and confirms design directions such as interior sharing, transportation, resting spaces, which are also the customer service desk, the lobby, the elevator lobby and the paths, entertaining scenic areas. With the inspiration of interactive experience, the author provides with new ideas for interior design, and gives detailed description of the final design proposal.Chapter five is the final summary. The author gives conclusions on the research project, and then talks about the further thoughts on possible questions. The author also looks ahead to the future of interior design of shopping malls.
