The Urban Form Transformation Models Of The Unit Community And Their Impact To The Urban Space

After the foundation of new PRC, in order to control the social resources and implement rapid urban development, the state adopted the management of Unit department to build Community, so the Unit Community had played an imortant role in the history. But along with the deepening of the reform and opening-up and the market economy, we face the social transition, the existence of the Unit Compound bring more and more problems to the city. The paper selects seven different cases of the Unit Community in Dalian, Beijing and Panjin, including educational, military, medical, enterprise units and institutions, and describes their historical background and the changes of the spatial form. The author focus on the analysis of the characteristics of the urban form transformation, and explain its political, economic, and social forces. Seven types of the transformation model of the unit community are summarized, and the similarity and particularity of each model are discussed. In addition, the paper deeply explores the impact of different transformation model to the urban space in the land form, the transportation system, the green and landscape system, the public facilities, and analyses the advantages and disadvantages objectively, then puts forward the strategies to guide the Unit Community developing to a correct and reasonable direction.
