This whole paper is focused on topology optimization of continuum structure, which is one of the most challenging and hot research topic in structure optimization. The following aspects are deeply investigated in this paper: material interpolation scheme for continuum structure, classification and solving strategies to numerical instabilities in calculation, optimization algorithms. The main contributions are as follows:1) Aimed at the disadvantage of SIMP (Solid Isotropic Material with Penalization) on penalty function, a new improved SIMP penalty function method is proposed. Numerical examples are carried out, which show that the new penalty function has superiority of stable optimization results and fast convergence.2) Based on the basic idea of the variable density method, a new method to build interpolation model is proposed, a specific mathematical form of the interpolation model is got, and relevant example verification is achieved.3) Optimal model based on the new improved SIMP method is established, whose optimization objective is the minimum compliance, and the design method of continuum topology optimization is applied in the optimization design of antenna structure, a reasonable topology structure is obtained.
