Investigation, Application And Evaluation For Landscape Plants In Several Types Of Urban Green Lands In Zhoukou City

The landscape plants are the main materials of garden building in cities, and selection of landscape plants plays a very important role in the success of the garden building, but investigation concerning about landscape plants in Zhoukou city is really few. On the whole, it is at the stage of the beginning step.The main aim of this study was to investigate and sort out data of 45 samples for several types of urban green lands in Zhoukou city, including compositive parks, green lands of street, green lands of square and so on, and in order to know the application and landscape effect of plants in the different seasons and climatic conditions. The results were concluded as following:1 .Landscape plants presented the diversity of characteristics in urban green lands in Zhoukou city: There were 133 kinds of landscape plant species in urban green lands of Zhoukou city in total, belonging to 60 families and 106 genuses. And there were 80 species and 66 genuses of local plants, accounting for 62.2% and 60.2% separately of all landscape plants in Zhoukou city. There were 121 angiosperms and 12 gymnosperms, 100 woody plants , 27 herbaceous plants and 6 lianas, 90 broad leaved plants, 10 conifers , 69 evergreen plants and 37 evergreen plants. The proportion of trees and shrubs was 1.7:1, the proportion of evergreen plants and evergreen plants was 1:1.9, the proportion of trees, shrubs and grass was 2.4:1.3:1.2. Diversity of ornamental characteristics of landscape plants: There were 40 foliage plants, 45plants with ornamental flowers, 14 fruit-effect plants(including 10 fruit trees), 4 plants with ornamental trunks and branches, 8 plants with ornamental shapes in urban green lands of Zhoukou city. The percentage of plants blooming in spring, summer, autumn and winter were 49%, 29%, 20% and 2% separately. The main colour was white, accounting for 37%, the next was the colour of red, accounting for 32%, thirdly were the colour of yellow and purple, accounting for 19% and 12% independently. Health levels of most landscape plants have reached the grade of high-class, taking up 82%, the grade of 'good' taking up 12%, the grade of 'medium' taking up 4% and only 1% plants was the grade of ' not good'. These results all indicated that the selected landscape plants were very suit for growth in Zhoukou city , and they had got good maintenance and management. 3.There were 17 kinds of common landscape plants in urban green lands of Zhoukou city. The main trees were Ligustrum lucidum, Sabina komarovii, Salix babylonica, Lagerstroemia indica, Trachycarpus fortunei, Cedrus deodara, Platanus hispanica, Prunus ceracifera.var.atropurpurea, Sophora japonica, Prunus persica, Salix babylonica. The main shrubs were Euonymus japonicus, Ligustrum×vicaryi, Rosa chinensis, Berberis thunbergii, Photinia serrulat, Osmanthus fragrans. And the main ground covers were Oxalis rubra, Trifolium repens, Zephyranthes Candida, grass and so on.4. According to the results of investigation, there were some application problems of landscape plants in urban green lands in Zhoukou city:Firstly, it was not abundant enough of landscape plant species; Secondly, the structure of landscape plants was not reasonable; Thirdly, the species of colorful trees were lacking, and the landscape was pretty simplex; Fourthly, the cultivated density of trees was too large; Fifthly, resources of ground covers were lacking, and the application of herbaceous flower was not plentiful enough. Thus, suggestions were mainly to do the following work: First of all, increasing the species of landscape plants to improve biological diversity in mainly urban green lands in Zhoukou city. Secondly, enhancing the application of vertical greening of landscape plants to enrich vertical landscape of urban green lands in Zhoukou city; Thirdly, paying more attention to the selection and use of fast-growing trees, and increasing the proportion of fast-growing trees and trees grown slowly; Fourthly, reinforcing the introduction and domestication of exotics colorful plants to enrich aspect change of urban green lands.
