Hydraulic spool valve is the key components in fluid transmission and control technology, which controls the fluid pressure, flow rate and flow direction. The hydraulic cylinder and the open, close, speed, direction and action sequence of hydraulic motor are also controlled. Spool valve with notches is one of the basic constructions of hydraulic valve, which places several notches axisymmetrically on the spool to form the restriction configuration. Investigation into flow characteristics of orifice and flow force of spool valve with notches are of great significance to designing high quality hydraulic control valve.In this thesis, computational fluid dynamic(CFD), theoretical analysis are used to investigate the flow characteristics of orifice and the calculation method of flow force of spool valve with notches in the variable-displacement pump. First the correspondence calculation formulas to calculate the orifice area of the notches are deduced and a general computational program is developed by MATLAB. The influence of combined shape orifice's dimension parameters on the dynamic characteristic is principally analyzed. Then CAE software I-deas is used to establish the static model of the spool valve with notches. After simulating the models of the spool valve, the velocity distribution, pressure distribution, the flow and flow force of spool valve with notches are obtained. At the same time, when the dimension parameters of combined shape orifice are changed, the influence on flow and flow force are analyzed.The influence of the dimension parameters on the dynamic characteristic, flow and flow force are generalized, and the design basis of spool valve with notches is discussed, which offers reference of notches' design.
