| REHABILITATION & UPGRADING PROJECT IN SABAH RAILWAY MALAYSIA is a design-build project. It required the contractor to complete the "turn-key project" under the fixed price and fixed construction period in order to meet the requirements from clients and the statements of needs.REHABILITATION & UPGRADING PROJECT IN SABAH RAILWAY MALAYSIA which been chosen as research topic in this paper has significance in the object of study. Application of Value Engineering in analyzing and optimizing has reasonable the construction method, minimized the cost, in the other hand, it helps in creating maximum economic efficiency.According to a recent survey on rehabilitation & upgrading of existing railway, it is very seriously that people pay attention to technique and construction period despising cost and management in railway construction. This paper is to optimize construction method for the above mentioned project by the use of modernized construction management theory - value engineering. The aspects on the main solution were as follows in this paper:a) Based on the feature of a design-build project and the operation mode in international construction market, it is suggested that there are three methods of which can be adapted during the construction of the above mentioned project, bringing forward the theory of value engineering, and analyze on the qualities and quantities in every construction progress.b) By adapting value engineering in optimizing the three construction methods for the above mentioned project, 'method of statement for welding the LWR (long welded rails) off track in site' was the best solution which summarized in this paper.c) Application of value engineering in carrying further analysis and optimization on 'method of statement for welding the LWR off track in site', the work enthusiasm were fully exerted as well as reduced labor strength, we achieved the requirement demanded, chosen suitable construction method, and minimized construction cost.Analyzing and optimizing the construction method by value engineering, has improved the construction method, at the same time, result in reasonable the techniques and economy. This paper also draws a conclusion on the major domain in different way. And we hope this paper can show you a reference and a guide to the same project. |
