Currently,the need for renewable energy in our country is sky rocketing.According to the estimation from "Energy Research Institute National Development and Reform Commission"and other related organizations,in 2030 we will reach the point that consuming 6 billion tons of coal annually.In 2014,nuclear power has become a day-to-day topic among high ranking officers in China,and they had made series of instructions to emphasize the importance of the development of nuclear power and the improvement of innovation within the country.In 2015 March,"National Development and Reform Commission" issued documents confirming the permission of the construction for Hongyanhe project units 5&6,two-million-KW nuclear power generating units.This is the latest nuclear power plant project since the Fukushima accident happened four years ago.After obtaining the construction permission from "National Nuclear Commission",Hongyanhe project units 5&6 began construction in March 29th,2015.This approval marks our country has entered a new era.As the major task of project management,Project Construction Schedule Management is the basis for other works.An effective management on construction progress is crucial for completing project goal and improving project quality.This paper systematically introduces the basic concepts of Project Construction Schedule Management,Optimization Methodology,and their corresponding Corrections,through analyzing the features,effects and resources of constructing a nuclear power plant island.It emphasizes on illustrating the principles and procedures of nuclear power plant island construction with limited resources.Finally,the paper gives an extended explanation on Honyanhe Nuclear Power Plant construction progress,in terms of,Control,Optimization and Implementation with practical example analysis.This research paper can also be acted as a guideline for the continuous construction of Hongyanhe Nuclear Plant.The early civil construction of Hongyanhe project units 5&6 are going smoothly,and some of the auxiliary projects will be completed ahead of the planned schedule.Our project department based on experience from the early project has implemented "whole cast concrete raft foundation technology","steel liner panels automatic welding technology","dome Integral Lifting Technology" and other advanced civil engineering technologies to improve construction efficiency.It has compressed construction time drastically.Because this paper is not focused on the analysis and argumentations on civil construction technologies,we will not expand on those topics.We only conduct researches on the basis of the current technology condition,references to the statistics of the construction timeline from earlier and similar power plant units,by applying Project Management expertise on optimization of Schedule Management.We believe as the design and construction techniques improve over time,the construction timeline of CPR1000 Pressurized Water Reactor will be optimized further,so that makes it become more competitive in the current nuclear power plant market.
