The Research On Low-tech Ecological Design Of Rural House In North-central Region Of Hunan Province

China is now in a special period that the differentiation of the urban and rural area appearance is extremely serious. Rural areas have long been seperated from the cities, and they are also ignored by traditional architecture study. In that case, it has not been affected by technical utilitarianism that floods in urban buildings. "Urbanization" was regretful for human being during its development. When conducting a new rural construction, will we continue to take the old way again? A large amount of historical experience and lessons indicate that the path of sustainable development is the sole way for Chinese urban and rural construction. The purpose of research on Low-tech Ecological design of rural houses is to find a way from the history and current situation that is suitable for the sustainable development of rural areas.The first chapter of this dissertation mainly summarizes the background and research methods. The second chapter presents the theory of Eco-building, the charcteristics of technical levels and the principle of technology selecting. Meanwhile, this chapter introduces some suitable technical level and the construction model of rural houses applied by corresponding cases. The first two chapters lay a solid theoretical foundation for the following research.The third chapter expounds a brief introduction of geographical and climate conditions in North-cenral region of Hunan province, as well as the cultural environment in the same area. It also reviews the situation and procedure of local residential construction. Furthermore, this chapter analyzes the building characteristics based on the investigation of these rural houses. The fourth chapter focuses on examining the low techniques applied in those rural traditional houses. Unlike former studies of the traditional houses, this dissertation doesn't emphasize building patterns, layouts or decorating parts, but explores some Low-tech ecological design measures by means of both quality-fixed and quantity-fixed methods on construction design, building physics and materials.By means of theoretical analysis, status quo analysis and combination of Low-tech design measures and ecological construction design strategies of traditional houses, the author puts forward Low-tech ecological design strategies and corresponding improvement measures which are fit to the North-cenral region of Hunan province from the aspects of site design and building design. Furthermore, the experimental houses in Guandu town of Liuyang City are briefly introduced. Finally the author draws the conclusions.Through the above study, this paper provides some alternative strategies for the architects and villiagers who are involved in the construction in North-cenral region of Hunan province. It is advocated that Eco-building can be realized with low techniques in the construction of rural house. Thus the sustainable development in the countryside could be achieved at an early date.
