The main orientation of the modernization of railway transportation is to realize high-speed passenger transport and heavy-duty freight. One of the main technical supports to achieve heavy-duty freight is to develop a heavy-duty freight car suitable for Chinese railway operation, and the major difficulty in it is the fatigue reliability design and the testing assessment of the freight car structure, among which the key technology is to establish the structure of the heavy-duty freight car load spectrum that suits Chinese railway operation.Generally speaking, the establishment of the load spectrum needs thousands of kilometers, or even longer, of load testing mileage in order to cover a variety of operating conditions. A heavy-duty freight car usually has a km-class marshalling length, and frequently changes marshalling during the process, which brings much difficulty to the tested vehicle reliable tracking, the test system condition monitoring, the power support, the data download and the operating conditions collection. Thus, the technology of test system positioning, monitoring and controlling become the key.to establish the heavy-duty freight car load spectrum.Under the actual necessity of establishing the heavy-duty freight car load spectrum, the thesis designs a remote monitoring system, and illustrates the concerned technology, theory, compositions and also hardware and software designs. The system obtains information such as vehicle locations and speed by GPS (Global Positioning System), while builds an interactive channel between the vehicle and the ground control center by GPRS (General Packet Radio Service). At the meantime, hardware management and task scheduling are accomplished by the LPC2220 ARM7 processor and the embeddedμC/OS-Ⅱoperating system. The information, including vehicle location, speed and data collecting equipment state, is stored in the electronic disk at regular time for analysis as well as remote control by the ground control center.On testing, the system realizes the communications between the freight car and the ground control center, which enables the testers to find out the real-time operation of the freight car and the test equipments by the monitoring software, and adjust in time. Meanwhile, the auto control of the vehicle equipment is realized. The system basically meets the needs of the heavy-duty freight car load test, completes the remote monitoring and control functions stably and accurately, and serves great significance to the heavy-duty freight car load testing.
