In the middle of 1980s, abroad new building highways increased more slowly in most of highway developed countries. At the same time, highway maintenance had played a very important role gradually in daily highway work, and the theory and technology of highway maintenance system had became ripe during last nearly 20 years developing. Now, the speed of new building highways is no longer in the period of fast going up in China. In the end of 2007, the length of all kinds of highways is 3583.7 thousand kilometers and the length of expressway is 53.6 thousand kilometers in the whole country. Although we get a very outstanding result of highway building, we find some troublesome problems. And our highway work will enter the period of highway maitenace.Under researching the condition of pavement distress on expressway, fingding out pavement distress existing on the Dong-Qing Expressway in different grade, this thesis takes Dong-Qing Expressway(from Dongying to Qingzhou in Shandong province) as engineering case, analyses the reseasons of pavement distress and bridge disfigurement by theoretical knowledges, and gives some solving methods and advices. Besides of these, fuzzy comprehensive judgement is used to analysing the grade of pavement distress for, making sure that more scientific and efficient methods are applied, avoiding that human subjective factors work on uncertain engineering problem analysis, making problem judgement objective and scientific.Finally, the thesis introduces simply the development and present situation of highway maintenance and management, and summarizes some inspiration, from abroad experiences and lessons, to perfect Chinese highway maintenance and management system.
