Research On Asphalt Pavement Rapid Maintenance And Repair Technology

With plenty of high-grade highway construction, asphalt pavement has been more and more used. From the use of built high-grade highway, early damages have appeared in asphalt pavement of newly built high-grade highways, and severe damages have often appeared in asphalt pavement of years built high-grade highways. Much highway construction investment will be induced and traffic capability and service quality will be improved, if early damages can be resolved. So, it is significant to make maintenance and repair to the early damages of asphalt pavement. To the asphalt pavement of severe damages, rapid repair method should be adopted to make sure the shortest repair time and to prevent the damages to turning worse.In the paper, destruction types of asphalt pavement have been summarized completely firstly, then all kinds of technology and equipment used in maintenance and repair of damages in asphalt pavement are investigated and collected. After the analysis of application, the necessity of research and manufacture of the asphalt pavement rapid maintenance and repair equipment and the feasibility of infrared ray heating method with infrared ray pipes in rapid maintenance equipment and microwave heating method with microwave heater in rapid repair equipment is determined. Based on the damage situation of asphalt pavement in our country, through plenty of heating experiment with infrared ray, the application feasibility of infrared ray heating technology used in asphalt pavement rapid maintenance equipment is proved to be available. After the analysis of experimental data, the whole design of rapid maintenance equipment with infrared ray in asphalt pavement has been made, including the structure design, operation mode design, circuit design and the MCU control system preliminary design. For the dispersion and partial character of initial damages in asphalt pavement with infrared ray, the method of maintenance with modified asphalt membrane is used in asphalt pavement rapid maintenance equipment.The equipment can be used to maintain and repair damages in asphalt pavement rapidly and effectively, and illustrates a good prospect of application and extension. At the same time, the core of microwave rapid repair equipment aiming at the repair of severe damages in asphalt pavement-microwave heater has been designed and then manufactured. Though plenty of microwave heating experiments, the application feasibility of microwave heating technology used in asphalt pavement rapid repair equipment is proved to be available, and has lain a foundation for the future work.
