Improvements in engine manufacturing technology have gradually increased the thermal efficiencies of engines as well as the burning temperature and pressure of fuels within the cylinders. And this makes the engine bear higher heat load and mechanical load than before. The engine's reliability, economic and emission are greatly influenced by the performance of the cooling system and the lubrication system. So it is essential to research on engine's cooling and lubrication system test rig for optimizing the structure and performance of both cooling and lubrication system and accessories.The design of this trial device adopts the modularization method. The entire test system is divided into a few models, and different models are connected by pipes and valves. This test includes three main functional models. They are water pump test rig model, oil pump test rig model and motoring test rig model. Each of the models can works independently and they can work together to accomplish more tests. Water pump performance test could be accomplished on the water pump test rig and oil pump performance test could be accomplished on the oil pump test rig. To make the water pump test rig and oil pump test rig work together, the performance test of heat transfer of the oil cooler. Performance of piston cooling nozzle can be test on the oil pump test rig. With the water heater providing hot water and oil heater providing hot oil, test of water distribution of engine cylinder head and performance test of temperature regulating valve etc. can be accomplished on the motoring test rig.After the accomplishment of the test system, some accessories of the cooling and lubrication system were tested by it. The result of debugging has shown that the trial device could perfectly meet the need for testing engine's cooling and lubrication system.
