Reinforced earth is a composite which is composed by reinforced material into soil. The reinforced material added into soil could improve physical and mechanical characteristics of the entire geotechnical structure. The method of geotechnical reinforcement is reinforced earth techniques, and the structure is reinforced earth structure. As a rising support structure, the reinforced earth structure is widely used with the merits of simple technology, low price and being flexible with any terrain, etc.. But confined to theoretical research level, especially the working mechanism between reinforcement and earth, the basic principle for the design of reinforced-earth retaining wall is still on the basis of geotechnical mechanics. Combined with specific engineering conditions, the practical problem is solved through empirical or semi-empirical method, especially by prototype measurement and model test.Based on the purpose of combination of theoretical design and engineering practice, a striped reinforced-earth retaining wall is prototype measured. The survey data contain vertical pressure, horizontal pressure and reinforcement strain. By further analysis, the principal law is gained that the pressure and reinforcement strain vary with the height of soil, which reflect the real pressure and deformation of the reinforced-earth retaining wall.Through the numerical simulation analysis by FEM software ANSYS to the reinforced-earth retaining wall, the distributions of displacement, stress and reinforcement strain are gained, compared with measured data, verifying the reasonability of existent design theory and the feasibility of FEM simulation of the reinforced-earth retaining wall, which could be the case for design calculation and research of the similar engineering in the future.
