Because of its low cost and stable nature,geogrid reinforced earth retaining wall is windly used in engineering. In recent years, Multilevel reinforced earth retaining wall has gradually become a hot topic. In this article,we reviewed the research status and analyzed the working mechanism of the retaining wall, the main contents are:(1)Reviewed the research status and analyzed the working mechanism of the retaining wall.(2)Reviewdthe design about the Single-stage reinforced retaining wall in Reinforced Retaining Wall Design Guide and complemented the design of the multi-level retaining wall.Cleard the top-down design ideas,and added the content about the internal and stability computations and external stability computations about the multistage reinforced retaining wall.(3)By doing field tests on reinforced earth retaining Wall in the airport, Analyzed the characteristics of vertical earth pressure and grid strain and the reason it caused. The working performance about the multistage reinforced retaining wall is different from the single-stage reinforced retaining wall.The force and displacement of the reinforced retaining wall is fully meet the requirements about strength, deformation, stable.we also make some conclusions in the process of the results analysis,.(4)We set up a calculating model by using the finite element software Plaxis.The model simulated the base stress,the vertical earth pressure,the reinforced strain and the form of the rupture surface in the filling process of the retaining wall. And then we analyzes the effect by changing the parameters of a retaining wall include the different grille stiffness, the different grid spacing, the different lengths of reinforcement and the different fillers.Synthesize the results of theoretical analysis,model test and numerical simulation, the design method of multilevel reinforced earth retaining wall is similar with the single-stage design method of the retaining wall.The different between the two methods is whether considered the effect of the different step width when designd the retaining wall.the horizontal deformation and the vertical deformation of the retaining wall is also effected by the different grille stiffness, the different grid spacing, the different lengths of reinforcement and the different fillers.
