Soundscape Design In Urban Parks

Landscape spaces can supply aesthetically experiences, which landscape architects should enrich from visual, acoustic, olfactory, haptic and gustatory aspects. With the development of city development, series of large urban parks are constucted or rehabilitated in many cities, where noise control and electric studio design are applied gradually. With the cordial pursuit of happy living in huge concrete world, it becomes important and urgent to find out the way of soundscape design in urban parks from environmental, cultural and psychological aspects. Based on the concept argument and redefinition of soundscape, the thesis put forwards the soundscape functions on aesthetic conception of urban parks, and soundscape design principles of urban parks. At the same time, the thesis discusses soundscape design methods from the park conception, park zoning, route organization, topography design, vegetation design and public service establishment aspects after reviewing the classic theories and precious experience of soundscape evaluation and design and analysing the investigation result of the soundscape in main urban parks like the Jiefang Park in Wuhan.
