Research & Practice On The Renovation & Extension Of The Library Architecture

The thesis studies on the renovation and extension of library which is a branch of old architecture recycling study as well as related subject. It begins at the renewal of overseas library architecture, then set research on the system of China's library architecture renovation.Now in China, library architecture renovation is not common. But it is predictable that re-development of China's library architecture is incoming due to the growing public demand on knowledge and medium. After analysis on the renovation types, method and tendency of library architecture in several countries, the thesis tries to probe the way for China's library architecture renovation.Starting from the origin of library and its development progress, the thesis introduces the renovation history, study background and updates, and study objectives. Chapter Two focuses on the causes for library architecture renovation. The following Chapter compares the renovation cases in China and overseas, in order to study the renovation types and method. Chapter Four presents the renovation tendency in culture and technology, and then conducts analysis on China library architecture's feature and prospect from the renovation model, renovation type, operation model and architecture function. In the last chapter, a case study of Hebei province library renovation is made for practical reference.The renovated library is a combination of new architecture and old one to bridge the era gap and cultural difference. It will exist still as the culture center for the city with distinguished influence of both traditional culture and modern civilization.
