The Study On The Application Of High-rise Building Groups In The Urban Form Planning

With the rapid development of high-rise buildings in modern times, the functional structure and the space image of cities has been changed both deeply and greatly. Since 1980s, high-rise buildings have risen to appearance in every single city of China, making a difference to the construction of cities, of which the image has transformed from plane-extension-centered to space-expansion-centered. Motivated by highly-urbanization, high-rise buildings are being developed blindly for the sake of high-rise buildings. In this way, the construction of cities has run into a state of disorder, which will badly affect the development of cities.Under the background of highly-centralization of population and resource, high-rise buildings are growing towards the trend of function complexion and community expansion. Starting from the point of space image of cities, this paper probes into studying the relevance of high-rise building groups to the cities'spacial image. And, from the perspective of macro-planning, the general trend and the specific characteristics of the development of high-rise buildings will be summarized, its influence upon city image will be analyzed, as well, the application of high-rise building group in city image planning will be studied. In this way, a scientific approach to the overall arrangement of high-rise buildings will be drawn out, leading cities in a state of disorder towards cities with harmonious spacial structure based on a combination of favorable spacial image, excellent cultural meaning and good visual impression.The whole paper consists of four chapters. Chapter 1 is a literature review of the theoretical framework. Chapter 2 briefly introduces the background for this study, focused on analyzing the general development of high-rise buildings in the cities of China.Chapter 3 studies at length high-rise building groups in five different aspects: its formation and the cause for the formation, its characteristics, its styles, and its building patterns. Chapter 4 mainly expounds the influence of high-rise building groups upon city image and its application in city image planning and control. Last of all, a final model for planning high-rise buildings in urban area is put forth. In addition, relevant administrative solutions and some suggestions are proposed. Chapter 3 and 4 are the major concern.
