With the fast development of the economy of our country, and the promotion of the urbanization process, the urban population is increasing constantly, and the ownership of motor vehicle is rapidly increasing too. The urban traffic problems become the bottleneck restraining the city from developing further. One-way roadway is a kind of simple and effective traffic management means. It has the advantages of increasing road capacity and vehicular speed, as well as reducing traffic accident.Therefore, the method of one-way roadway has been extensively used to solve the problem of urban traffic congestion problems. Based on the analysis of urban traffic problems in China, the adaptations of one-way roadway at home and abroad are combined; some aspects are studied and analyzed, such as impact of one-way roadway, the design of one-way roadway, the evaluation of one-way roadway and the threshold values of the evaluation index and so on,which are concluded as follows:(1) According to the traffic engineering, traffic management and planning theory, the one-way roadway theory is summarized in this thesis.The favorable conditions for implementing one-way roadway are analyzed.The conclusions regarding as advantages and disadvantages of the one-way roadway are also involved.(2) The situation in which some of drivers would change their routes on their trips with longer distance when the one-way roadway plan is applied is studied in detail. And the problems of the detouring routes and some other detailed are analyzed. The aims and princicles of the one-way roadway design are summarized. Under the scope of traffic impact, the steps of traffic management methods for common vehicle, transit, bicycles and pedestrians crossing over roads are designed in detail. After a number of adjustments, the comprehensive schematic design of one-way roadway system is determined at last.(3) An evaluation system of one-way roadway is introduced. Furthermore, the evaluation indexes are concretely analyzed. The evaluation subsystems are established along the planning subsystem and integrated by the methods of synthetic evaluation.(4) Detouring distance is studied in detail, as well as the situation in which the one-way traffic roadway system would result more detouring distance,the choice of detouring routes and some other problems.Two macroscopic detouring distance methods and their related algorithms are then presented including the shortest path algorithm and based on the difference between the total traveling distances before and after applying an one-way street system. Also the models and algorithms of the acceptable threshold values including queue length and stop rate are elaborated in order to determine the rationality of the plan and superiority of the benefit referring to the one-way roadway compared to the common roadway network before the one-way roadway plan is implemented.(5) The concept and application of those threshold values are described briefly. Algorithms of the threshold values of queue length and stop rate are taken into research in order to judge the reasonability of the design before the one-way roadway is implented. Furthermore, A kind of statistical method of production field, the statistical method——principal components analysis is introduced to establish the threshold model of the reasonability of the design in order to determine the acceptable threshold values for the design of the one-way roadway system..
