The Strategies Of Passive Ecological Design Of Building Atrium

Along with the appearance and development of ecological building theory in the West, the ecological effect on building atrium was gradually recognized by people. Atrium is not merely the splendid performance of building interior space, but also an important strategy in ecological building design. It is the exchange site of natural climate between interior and exterior space. It also plays an active role in such aspect as whole energy control of building, climate control and environment purification.However in real life, the situation is not very ideal. Atrium often brings huge energy consumption as a result of its great volume, massive glass using and improper design. Therefore, we still need to explore the ecological characteristics of atrium. In the process of atrium design, architects should try to unify economical and environment goals through various work, such as correct layout, reasonable selection of building shape, suitable design of building envelope and so on according to local climate.The key point of this article is to discuss passive ecological design of atrium and to put forward a series of ecology strategies. The content is divided into three parts.The first part is from chapter one to chapter three. This part first proposed the research topic, introduced the developing process of atrium and the theory of ecological design, then introduced the concept of passive design and analyzed the necessity of passive ecology design in atrium.The second part is chapter four. This core part analyzed the method of atrium passive ecology design from several aspects such as layout design of atrium plan and section, natural lighting, natural ventilation, atrium envelop, adjustment of microclimate and so on.The third part is chapter five and conclusion. This part discussed the prospects of atrium's development to further study the value of passive ecology design in atrium, and then drew a conclusion from the whole article.This article provided a new angle for atrium design, suggested combining passive ecological design with atrium.
