Due to its abundant spatial morphology, excellent lighting condition and reference to the natural elements, atrium was widely brought into modern architecture. But its spatial particularity makes the design and control of atrium thermal environment more complicated than ordinary architectural space, and at the same time, the energy consumption status also causes more and more attention from architects and the home owners. For now,although many researchers are studying ecological energy-saving design for atrium space, lack of the systematic theoretical researches in terms of the morphology design of atrium space, especially of the plane design.At the same time,the staff involved in the design work is in general lack of quantitative aided design methods, all these made the atrium building thermal environment fruitless, and the ecological energy-saving study of atrium space has uncertainty and blindness.Therefore, we should do the discussion about the passive ecological design of trium thermal enviroment in the terms of spatial form,and do the research with quantitative tools.The purpose of this research is to conduct quantitative research on ecological energy-saving effect of atrium thermal enviroment in the way of numerical simulation analysis,to provide the basis of quantitative the design and selection for the atrium plane,and to realize the passive ecological energy-saving thermal environment of the atrium in Tianjin in the building energy consumption simulation software DeST. The article starts with the concepts of atrium and passive ecological design, analyzes its relationship with e atrium thermal environment, and studies the physical model of atrium thermal environment. Secondly, it analyses the thermal process of the atrium space and summarizes the variety of factors that affect the atrium thermal environment. Thirdly,it surveys some of the atrium buildings in Tianjin in the way of questionnaires,finds out the questions in the atrium.Once again,it does the research about the domestic and foreign cases related to the passive ecological design, summarizes the cases in the terms of the atrium space design factors, extracts the basic plane geometry shape,and provides the graph model for the numerical simulation analysis in the later articles.Finally,this article provides specific implementation methods of analyzing atrium thermal environment in DeST, proves that it is possible to do the graphic design of atrium thermal environment in DeST. Take Tianjin as an example, by using numerical simulation technology for quantitative analysis of atrium thermal environment, designers can work out the atrium orientation, graphic form and graphic scale of different kinds of beadings, and systematically summarizes the passive ecological strategies based on related thermal environment about atrium graphic design.The research combines passive ecological concepts with architectural atrium space design, conduct the research in DeST provide owners with specific quantitative measuresin the atrium space design,and provides the design basis for the atrium orientation, graphic form and graphic scale in the buildings It enriches the research about the energy-saving design of atrium building,and plays the impetus role to the quantitative design of the atrium energy. It provides reference and thinking for atrium passive ecological design in Tianjin in the coming future.
