1. PrefaceAfter reform and opening which lasts for nearly 30 years, the size of China's economy has sharply raised, the amount of cars also increased a lot. But due to the lagged urban construction of most cities, deficient improvement of the road and the raising amount of the auto, people injured and dead in the accident get more and more. People pay more attention to the car's passive safety. Manufactures have to solve the problem that is how to improve the car's passive safety to save people. The proportion of the side impact is right behind the frontal impact in all kinds of the accidents. But the injury of the passenger of the side impact is very high because of the speciality of the side impact. The head and chest of the people of the side impact can be well protected by the side restraint system. CAE plays more and more important role in the design and development of the side restraint system. It shortens the time of the development, reduces the experiments, lower the cost.The IC protects the passengers'head well in the side impact. The study that is the research of the method of the design and development of the IC is based on several experiments of the curtain airbag of a series of the car.2. Scope of paper1. This paper presented two important experiments of the development of the IC, static imployment experiment and FMH. The paper also set up the models of two experiments and validated them based on the results of the experiments.2. This paper studied the size of the tube, the amount and size of the hole on the tube and explained the method of specifying them. The paper presented the way to choose the appropriate inflator which is by calculating the proper massflowrate curve too. The paper also introduced the way to simulate GASFLOW through taking use of multi inflator of Uniform Pressure based on the MADYMO software, which can be used to choose the right folding way.3. Significance of Paper1. This paper set up the simulation model of the IC by GASFLOW in MADYMO. The mode set up in the paper is almost precise though vast debugging and calculation which will be the base of the future simulation work. 2. The study of the method has significant meanings to the IC design and development and provides effective simulation method.3. The paper presented the way to simulate GASFLOW by using multi inflators of Uniform Pressure, which reduces the process time and improves efficiency.
