With the high-speed development of computer simulation technology, navigation simulators are updating and functions of simulators are improving and getting perfect. However, it is hardly related to underwater situation and simulation of fisheries instruments. The fishing sonar simulator is an acoustic fisheries instrument which is widely applied in the area of fisheries production, and has been playing a more and more important role in the area of fisheries production and scientific research. While during the course of daily teaching, the operation of fishing sonar is done in the laboratory. And because of the limitation of circumstance and characteristic of transducer, it is very difficult to show the vivid echo as that in the sea and the trainees can only be familiar with the use of fishing sonar by manipulating the control panel, which results that trainees can not be impressed by practice and reach the expected teaching effect. To add fisheries module(fishing sonar simulator included) to navigation simulator can not only meet the need of students who major in ocean fisheries and drivers of fishing vessels to study and train, improve the ability of fisheries production and ocean fisheries research, and satisfy the need of fisheries development but also improve the functions of navigation simulator. The paper mainly focuses on how to establish the mathematical model of echo operation of fishing sonar simulator, improve the simulation of the system and make the result of the simulation be same with the echo of the real instrument on the sea as far as possible, and enable the training of operators more closer with the realistic so that operators can master the operation of the fishing sonar, distinguish fish school echo and seabed echo from clutter, and judge the size, quantity, position, heading direction of fish school and the attribute of seabed through the actual operation and the echo observation. Prime task of the paper including the following aspects: 1. The paper proposes the main frame of fishing sonar simulator, mainly focuses on the simulation of fish school echo and seabed echo, and provides a reasonable model for fish school and seabed as well. The paper, moreover, adopts point mapping approach to reflect echo location information accurately.2. The paper Establishes a reasonable acoustic model, and utilizes gray-level division method based on the intensity of noise and image processing technology to improve the echo image quality of fishing sonar simulator.3. The paper realizes the echo image and the interaction interface non-twinkle display by off-screen drawing , the echo image all-round sweep dynamic display and the simulation of functions of the sonar simulator.The paper develops fishing sonar simulator, which prepares for the combination of fisheries module and navigation simulator and provides other simulators of fisheries module with reference.
