Radar simulator plays an important role in seafarer's training and evaluation, as well as scientific research. With the development of navigo, users' requirement for radar simulators is getting higher and higher. Since "STCW 78/95 Convention" raised specific standards on radar / ARPA simulator, radar simulator has achieved rapid development, especially after the development and application of system modeling and simulation technology. Nowadays, system modeling and simulation technology based on the support of computer technology has already been one of the key technologies to promote the development of modern high-tech and build an innovation-oriented country, with great application value in the field of national defense and economy. As the tendency of image simulation of navigation radar, system modeling and simulation technology have been applied enormously in military navigation radar simulators. However, they are hardly used for civil ship navigation radar simulator, especially not for the simulation of echo images of rain and snow in ship navigation radar simulators. This thesis applys system modeling and simulation technology to simulate the rain and snow echo images, expecting to achieve better simulation effect. This paper mainly works on the following three aspects: First, bring forward feasible means of modeling and simulation with the help of system modeling and simulation technology theories' study and research. Second, use particle system to establish a rational three-dimensional mathematical model of rain and snow. Finally, establish a mathematical model of electromagnetic waves and adopt relevant algorithms to generate echo images of the rain and snow in radar simulator.
