Research On Safeguarding And Renewal In Historic Districts Adjacent River

The historic districts adjacent river is the quintessence of ancient urban design and construction in Suzhou. Its safeguarding and renewal are the present problems to be solved urgently to Suzhou and those cities depending on its development. In reality, Suzhou is like a lot of other cities. In various degrees, the historic districts adjacent river has such problems as the aging of construction, the irrationality of functional structure, narrow road, traffic jam, weak infrastructure, worn-out pipe network. How to solve these problems while protecting its traditional style and inheriting Chinese traditional culture has already become the focal concern of the whole society.This paper begins at the concept of the protection and renewal of the historic districts adjacent river , through combing the theoretically developmental skeleton of its safeguarding and renewal, defining the focal points of its protective meaning and the key point of work. Then it studies the history of morphological development of Suzhou, probes its formation and its developmental process and defines its characteristics and the realistic significance of its safeguarding. And then through case-analysis of different types of safeguarding and renewal, this paper summarizes the general methods of safeguarding and renewal at present. At last, through the data of questionnaire investigation of its current situation, with the combination of case-analysis, sums up the deficiency of the safeguarding and renewal. Meanwhile, based on these problems, this paper puts forward the Countermeasures of its safeguarding and renewal.In this paper, the analysis of its safeguarding and renewal is based on the field investigation. Through the summary and analysis of the social census data, this paper focuses on the present problems and gives many suggestions of protecting and renewing methods in the following aspects: shaping the whole image of the city, the safeguarding of the historical building, architectural design, the space design of districts, landscape design, traffic design, the protection of traditional lifestyle, etc. Through the real example, this paper has verified the effectiveness of the view that the article has proposed and it has a certain realistic significance.
