Analysis On Morphology Of Collective Hamlet And Popular Residences On Qikou Town

The primary object of this paper is the Qikou Town of Shanxi. In this paper, I discuss the protecting and developing problem of the town from the specialized angle of architectural history and city planning. I adopt the field surveying and theoretical analyzing method, using the way of investigation, detection and analysis problem, managing a professional theory and design methodology, combining with the knowledge of history, sociology, bionomics to deeply research the protecting and developing problem in the Qikou Town. Put forward the opinion that reasonable using is effective protection and point out that for processing the relations between the protection and the development, we must prevent the traveling and commercial overdevelopment, further more it needs the local resident to positive participation.The Qikou Town as a unique commercial market town, there are many places be worth researching. First, the forming process is the result of many historical factors together. There are not one courtyard was built for housing especially in the big town. There are whole-colored shop and store on both side of the several miles long street. This mode of formation is extremely unique, it is worth researching. Secondly, it is the intelligence and ability embodiment of local residents to combine with the landform and the town ably. The cave dwelling residences were built because the mountain, it not only is active alteration to the bad natural environment, but also incarnates overall arrangement about traditional residence on the north in China. Thirdly, all kinds of cave welling construction are distributed above the loess plateau, are one of representative local construction forms. The construction form of the Qikou town represents the west of Shangxi cave dwelling. It is the Han Nationality who lives there for thousands of years, who excavated the regional building material potential on bad environment and constructed masterpiece to combine with their own national culture characteristic .The paper from the democratic and historical angle, from themacroscopical and microcosmic level-------the old town layout andconstruction morphology through the deeply research about the morphology characteristic of collective hamlet and construction on Qikou town, opening out the value as local construction. At the same time, it also can gain the wonderful enlightenment from the angle on up-to-date architectural design. Many excellent structures and the idea on space also are worth studying and using for now the architects, it is helpful for us to explore a national characteristic road of the construction.
