The Research Of Some Problems On The Renovation Of Old City Factory

For the social development of China, the recent ten years was an essential transformation period. Reasons from all aspects caused the gradually decay of traditional industries, including inadequacy of human resources, adjustment of industrial structures, outdated technologies, and the aging of facilities. More and more abandoned factories emerged in the city, serving as the basis for the newborn cultural industries, such as Beijing 798 Factory, Shanghe Creative Store in Kunming, 49 Loft in Hangzhou. This trend made the renovation issue of old factories become a hot topic in the architecture circle in China.Based on predecessors'experiences, this thesis is trying to make a synthetic research on the renovation history of old city factories. Two cases, the Renovation of Tsinghua Power Plant and Ningbo Book City International Competition in which the author participated, are taken as examples in the discussion of problems in the renovation issue. In the last part, the author analyzes the prospective of the development of this area in China, hoping the researches in this thesis could be helpful for the upcoming massive emergence of old city factory renovations.
